A safe and warm first experience in water
Baby swimming is one of the most popular activities for infants—and for good reason.
In water, babies can move freely, practice early motor skills, and experience a sense of achievement together with a parent.
Pikku Delfiinit’s Baby Delfiinit swimming groups are designed for babies from around 3 months up to 2 years of age.
What happens in baby swimming?
In Pikku Delfiinit baby swimming, each child progresses according to their own development and readiness.
Sessions take place in:
a safe and warm environment
a playful and encouraging atmosphere
a child-led approach with no performance pressure
Why is baby swimming important?
The goal of baby swimming is not performance, but:
a positive and safe water experience
early familiarisation with water
strengthening parent–child interaction
a foundation for future swimming skills and water safety
Baby swimming and swimming development
Baby swimming builds an important foundation for later learning:
Baby swimming → Sibling swimming → Family swimming school → Swimming skills
When a child becomes comfortable in water early on, learning to swim later becomes easier and more natural.
For who is baby swimming for?
Baby swimming is suitable for infants who:
are approximately 3 months to 2 years old
attend together with a parent in the water
benefit from early water experiences
enjoy shared movement and interaction
